In the spirit of learning about celebrations from around
the world, Salem School celebrated Santa Lucia Day December 13th.
Two Kindergarten girls visited all of the classes dressed in white
gowns and candle crowns in keeping with an old Swedish tradition.
The students enjoyed gifts of cookies and were treated to a story,
and some even crafted a woven paper ornament to decorate the classroom.
The Swedes have long celebrated the light during one of the shortest
days of that country's year. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Cudmore
and Mrs. Murphy for organizing this event.
