More than 60 boys and girls braved the 40 degree temperatures and light drizzle as they helped clean up Salem’s grounds as part of Mayor Taf’s Earth Day initiative.
Students picked up the area around the school building including the woods between Salem and Hillside and the World War I Monument just to the north of school grounds.
The Mayor and local sponsor Peter Paul provided the garbage bags and rubber gloves, while each participant received a bag of seeds to plant compliments of Wilmot Brothers’ Agway. Mayor Taf also gave each participant a coupon for a free sundae at Carvel in Mountview Plaza.
Thanks to Mrs. Kruge, the Salem faculty, the PSA, and the parents who helped oranize this successful event. Scroll down to see more pictures.
