Current Events
On May 23rd
and June 7th we will enjoy visits
from Barnes Nature Center. In May they will bring in their
reptiles
and amphibians and in June we will see mammals.
On June 12 we will go on our field trip to the
Children's
Museum in West Hartford. We will see a weather show in the
planetarium
and have a chance to tour the museum with its many hands-on activities.
We
will not be going to the museum store so no money is needed.
Children are to bring a bag lunch as we will eat on the grounds at the
museum.
Room parents are usually chosen as chaperones but we can allow other
parents
to accompany us. The charge for parents will be $7. Parents
can
join us on the bus as room permits but may also choose to carpool and
meet
us there.
Our class is working on the following:
Math
- We are now
working on money, capacity,
and weight.
Please encourage continued work on time.
Please continue to review basic addition and subtraction facts with
your child. It would also help to
practice addition
and subtraction of three digit numbers with regrouping.
Reading- We are working in our new Treasures
anthologies. Each week our lessons include Spelling,
Grammar, and Writing as
well as reading.
S ocial Studies- We are working on early manufacturing in Naugatuck.
Science- We are working on
the water cycle.
Writing- We are working on
entertaining beginnings, extended endings,
and descriptions in Empowering Writers as well as following the writing
pages in Treasures.
