What does math have
to do with home decorating? Most home decorators need to work within a budget.
But in order to figure out what you'll spend, you first have to know what you
need. How will you know how many rolls of wallpaper to buy if you don't
calculate how much wall space you have to cover? Understanding some basic
geometry can help you stick to your budget.
The word geometry literally means
"to measure the Earth." Geometry is the branch of math that is
concerned with studying area, distance, volume, and other properties of shapes
and lines. If you need to know the distance between two points, the volume of
water in a pool, the angle of a tennis serve, or how much wallpaper it will
take to cover a wall, geometry holds the answers.
Today will be looking on line to find the supplies and materials that we will need to furnish your room. Below, you will find the websites that you will be using to find these needed materials.

Remember, the goal is for you to find objects that you would like to have printed to be displayed in your room as well as finding the cost of each item. These items can be curtains, area rugs, towels, books, bedding, shelves, computers, stereos, tables, dishes, mirrors, carpeting, hardwood floors, chairs, deck furniture etc.
On the other side of this worksheet, you will find a table were you will fill in the items you wish to have, its description which includes the size because we want to make sure that the items will fit into the room, and the cost. Once you find an item that you would like to have printed to have displayed into your room, please save a copy of this picture into your class file along with your room name.
