The following radio and television stations are contacted in the event of a major change to the school day or emergency conditions.

In most instances, when we have to evacuate a building, we will transport students home. If it is not possible or practical to send students home, we will house students in a relocation site. As an example, if we have a power outage in the early morning at one elementary school but are assured power will be turned on by 8:30 AM, we may bus those students directly to the relocation site and then return them to their regular school when power is restored. If the relocation site is changed, we will put up notices at the school, so that you will know where your children are.

It will be rare for us to use this relocation plan. Students will usually be dismissed early.

Evacuation Site Relocate to the following:

NHS will try to direct students to the school closest to their homes. This may mean that they are transported by bus or walk to a given site.

• Students who live on the west side of the Naugatuck River will be directed to: Hillside, Western, Andrew Avenue, Hop Brook, Salem, or Central Avenue schools.

• Students who live on the east side of the Naugatuck River will be directed to: City Hill, Maple Hill, Hop Brook, Prospect Street, Central Avenue, or Cross Street schools.

• The larger facilities will serve as backup sites. For example, if we are unable to transport students to NHS, we will transport them to Hillside, City Hill, or Maple Hill school.
